Writer in Residence projects

In April 2019 I was overjoyed to be selected as a writer in residence for Alton Towers, led by the Liminal Residence. The project involved spending two days in Alton Towers, with five other writers, and producing a short story for their publication. You can hear me read the resulting story, The Stonechat, on the ‘Writing and books’ tab.

I’ve also been writer in residence for First Story at two Academies in West Yorkshire, and at Leeds Playhouse.

Last year I also organised a “Writer in Residence” at Middleton Park in Leeds, in partnership with Friends of Middleton Park and the Parks Ranger. Richard Smyth was our brilliant writer in residence for this project, producing work based on the history and ecology of the park, as well as providing a free workshop to local residents.

There is nothing I love more than making writing accessible to local communities, so if you’re interested in commissioning me as a writer in residence, please do get in touch.
