“[taking this course] has meant that I have had the opportunity to work with SJ, and her being a professional meant I got special guidance and input, that I really value.”

*** New in February 2023 ***

Starting in February, I’ll be teaching a 12-week online Short Story writing course for Comma Press. Starting on 16th Feb join me to learn the mechanics of short story writing using a craft and techniques approach. Classes are every 2 weeks. It’s £150 but there are some lower cost bursary places available – email nia.thomas@commapress.co.uk for one of these, or book using the Eventbrite link below.

“Thankyou – it was worth every penny”

“The workshop was excellent (wished it had been longer as the time flew by)” (from the “Write A Horror Story in an Hour” workshop)

“I loved the course. I am hopeful you may run others.”

Bespoke packages for teaching, editing and manuscript critique are available. Having taught creative writing to students aged 12-16 for First Story, and short story writing to adults for Comma Press, I am available for one-off workshops or a term-long series.

Some of my off-the-peg workshops include “Structure your novel using inspiration from life sciences” (3-hour workshop) and “Write a Horror story in an hour.” (1 hour).

Previous clients of my critique and teaching services have gone on to have short stories published in the US and UK, and some are competition winners. You can read about any upcoming teaching in the “News and Events” page, or you can contact me to discuss commissioning me to run workshops for your group or class.
